At first, I really didn't like this book at all. I really enjoy dystopian fiction, but I feel as if I've been reading too much of it lately. Every story has to set up the background of the world, which is great, but it tends to slow down the pace of the book. Inside Out started out so slow that I almost wanted to put it down after 80 pages. Fortunately I pushed through it and it got much more interesting. The big secret at the center of the story is pretty easy to guess but I won't let the cat out of the bag here. Trella is a character that you kinda hate, but soon you realize she is a product of her environment. I guess the most interesting thing about this story is nothing you experience is correct. Sure, you can guess the truths hidden in the story only to be revealed in the last few chapters, but for the most part, the reader learns everything alongside Trella. I don't know if I will read the sequel, as I usually don't unless it's something really good. Inside Out is a great recommendation for anyone looking for a readalike to The Hunger Games. The characters of Katniss and Trella are very similar and may be an adequate follow-up to Collins' series.
