Father Goriot Mme. Vauquer (ne de Conflans) is an elderly person, who for the past forty years has kept a lodging-house in the Rue Nueve-Sainte-Genevieve in the district that lies betwen the Latin Quarter and the Faubourg Saint-Marcel.
