I really enjoy Neil Gaiman, and have since I discovered the Sandman comics in my goth days (1994). This book was a really fun read. There were some fuzzy parts near the end about the war that was occurring; I thought perhaps there was a prequel I was missing (but I've read all of his books). However. I'd read it again.

Before I read this book I was never frustrated by doors. This book points out that there is virtually no reason for anyone to ever pull on a door that should be pushed, or vice versa. Doors can easily be designed so people just don't make that mistake. It was written before the ubiquity of cell phones or the invention of iPods, but comments on a things that contribute to making the first so annoying, and the second so popular. If you're interested in the tiny details that can add up to make life either more pleasant or maddening, it's a fascinating book. It can help you appreciate when things are done well, but also raises awareness of when things could be done better. It didn’t get the 5th star because parts of the book feel rather outdated, some of his suggestions go over the top (such having a little map of a room sticking out from a wall in place of conventional light switches), and because since reading it I’m often a grouchier person.
